Lets get into my top makeup picks of 2023! I have had the luxury of trying lots of new product launches this year, and I have a lot of favourites in my pretty extensive collection but I didn’t want to make this overwhelming to read through. Therefore I have really narrowed it down to max 3 products per category (it was tough!).

The products mentioned you may have seen me speak about in previous blog posts already, and I’m almost certain you will have seen them featured across my socials too! There is a real mix of some old and some new in here. I hope you find it helpful if you are looking to update your own makeup bag!

FOUNDATION

SHISEIDO | Revitalessence Foundation

Dewy, hydrated, glowing skin in a bottle! I have found myself reaching for this most for both every day makeup and more glam looks.

It is a light to medium coverage, serum like foundation that allows my skin to shine through whilst still evening out my complexion and adding a dewy glow that wears beautifully.

Skincare infused, the formula helps to nourish the skin barrier, protect against dryness and is suitable for all skin types.

HOURGLASS | Veil Skin Tint

I’m really into the whole loaded skincare, minimal makeup look these days and even better when the two are combined in one product. This hourglass skin tint is made up of 94% naturally-derived ingredients and includes hyaluronic acid for hydration.

The formula melts into skin, providing all-day wear and a sheer veil of coverage to even skin tone. More suited towards normal-dry skin types or equally those who love a dewy look!

YSL | All Hours Foundation

For those of you who prefer a fuller coverage, more satin/matte finish, this YSL all hours foundation instantly became a favourite of mine this year.

It is easily sheered out or built up, with a barely there feel and claims up to 24-hour wear (not that I have worn it for that long). Again, infused with added skincare and SPF benefits.

I have worn this is in humidity and high temperatures and is a product I reach for when I don’t want to worry about my makeup sliding off my face.

CONCEALER

NARS | Radiant Creamy Concealer

You’re probably bored of hearing me talk about this concealer by now, but it is truly what I compare all other concealers to!

It is creamy, has great coverage whilst looking natural with minimal creasing. I say minimal because every concealer creases with wear, don’t listen to people that tell you they don’t!

NATASHA DENONA | Hy-Glam Concealer

This Natasha Denona Hy-Glam concealer has a featherlight feel with a full coverage finish that delivers seamless airbrushed results. It has a luminous matte finish with a creamy, non-drying finish that helps to diminish the appearance of dark circles and imperfections.

I found myself reaching for this a lot this year and I really enjoy the flexible applicator.

HOURGLASS | Vanish Airbrush Concealer

Another favourite of the year, the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer.

It is a highly pigmented, liquid yet creamy concealer with high coverage that blends seamlessly into skin. It helps diffuse the look of pores and imperfections for a natural, airbrushed finish. I love this for more full glam looks.

BRONZER/CONTOUR

VIEVE | Modern Radiance Bronzer

I am yet to be disappointed by Vieve, I have loved every single product I have tried from them. Their Modern Radiance Cream Bronzer is no different.

This cream bronzer blends like butter! If you are a beginner or don’t like to spend too long blending out your makeup, you can’t go wrong with this as it melts effortlessly into skin. It also has skin caring ingredients in for an added bonus!

VICTORIA BECKHAM | Contour Stylus

I haven’t seen a contour wand with an applicator so slim! This Victoria Beckham Beauty Contour Stylus is perfect for contouring the nose, sculpting the eyelids or scribbling on to the hollows of the face.

The buttery formula glides effortlessly and blends into a natural shadow with great shade options. I love how compact it is for in your makeup bag or on the go.

WESTMAN ATELIER | Face Trace Contour Stick

This is a new discovery of mine that I had been wanting to get my hands on for a while! I’m yet to film a video using it but I had to include it in this round up.

It has weighty and luxurious feel to the packaging and a velvety soft formula that wont interrupt your complexion makeup underneath. Again with the added benefits of skincare ingredients, I just hope they extend the shade range.

BLUSHER

YSL | NU Lip and Cheek Tint

I need more people to be talking about this blush! I am not overly loyal with blush as I like to have a few on rotation with different finishes/shades depending on the look I’m going for.

Having said that, I have reached for this most days I’m doing my makeup! Especially for no-makeup-makeup/everyday looks as it’s highly pigmented, balmy formula blends effortlessly to leave a healthy flush of colour and glow to the skin.

ARMANI | Luminous Silk Blush

Now I am a liquid/cream blusher girl through and through.

Though this Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Blush is a beautiful powder blush that leaves a luminous flush of colour to the skin, never leaving a matte flat finish! So if you’re into your powder blushers, you might want to try this one.

I have found myself reaching for it a lot as I really love the shades, the highly pigmented yet blendable formula and how compact it is.

NARS | Afterglow Liquid Blush

I was devastated when I heard NARS was discontinuing their liquid blush in the pump (and still am!) but was I thrilled when I tried their new Afterglow Liquid Blushers.

They are a creamy liquid blush with a radiant finish that can be sheered out or built up for high pigment. My favourite shades are ‘insatiable’ and ‘wanderlust’ for their uniqueness.

HIGHLIGHT

CHANEL | Baume Essentiel

I didn’t find myself reaching for highlighter as much throughout 2023. Mainly because of the blushers I reach for have the glowy finish that I desire from a highlight.

However when I want that glass skin look, I love to add a touch of this Chanel Beauty Highlight Baume Essentiel to finish off my makeup. It comes in a variety of shades (should they be in stock!) but the transparent one is a universally flattering shade. Plus it doesn’t lift your makeup underneath.

DOLCE GABBANA | Devotion Illuminating Face Powder

If you are somebody who prefers a powder highlight, this Dolce Gabanna Beauty Devotion Illuminating Face Powder is seriously beautiful.

In a universally flattering shade, the formula combines the benefits of liquid and powder in one product to give an almost wet look glow with a dry touch. It is great used on the face, eyes and even body.

Though on the pricier side, it comes with a brush and wow does it look beautiful on your vanity.

KJH BRAND | Hyper Shine High Lite Kit

The queen of glow, Celebrity Makeup Artist, Katie Jane Hughes launched her own brand KJH in 2023.

She brought us her innovative Hyper Shine High Lite kit, available in 4 shades, that enables you to custom create your own glow with the mixing medium serum and pigment.

I’ve been loving it and plan to film a video with it very soon. I will link below once I do!

POWDER

CHARLOTTE TILBURY | Airbrush Flawless Powder

This has been a favourite of mine for years! I am yet to find a powder compact that delivers the same results as this.

It is an extremely finely milled formula that truly does airbrush the skin. I love it for lightly setting my makeup and for touching up with throughout the day as I never find it goes cakey.

LAURA MERCIER | Loose Setting Powder

If you are looking for something with extra staying power, you can’t go wrong with the trusty Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder.

The translucent one is my favourite but I also have a couple of their other shades in my kit for clients/models too. I like to lightly bake with this under the eyes and dust away, or use a powder puff to press a little into the skin.

SETTING SPRAY

CHARLOTTE TILBURY | Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

I always finish off my makeup with a setting/finishing spray. I find it really melts together the layers of your makeup and gives a second skin finish.

This Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray does a great job at helping your makeup last longer. It can also be used sprayed before makeup application to help prime.

LISA ELDRIDGE | Skin & Makeup Mist

I’d consider this as more of a hydrating mist than a setting spray. It does a fantastic job at melting together your makeup and leaving a beautiful dewy glow.

This can be used in both your skincare and makeup routine. If using in your makeup routine I’d recommend using this as the last step or between layers especially if you are using powders and feel that your face looks a little dry.

EYESHADOW

ARMANI | Eye Tint

I have fallen in love with the Armani Beauty Eye Tints! The shade 22M in particular.

It gives the perfect wash of colour/natural shadow to my eyes and the formula is a weightless, liquid shadow that requires no expertise to apply as it blends with ease.

VIEVE | Eye Wands

I have loved cream eyeshadows for years. I find them so easy to work with and if I am in a hurry and want a quick something I always grab them over a palette!

I have a few favourites from brands such as Hourglass, Victoria Beckham, Laura Mercier, but I’m mentioning these by Vieve particularly because of the shade range. They offer a wide range of matte neutrals and shimmer shades so you can opt for a one and done look or add depth. They also work great as a base under powder eyeshadows too.

MAKEUPBYMARIO | Master Mattes Eyeshadow

For those who prefer a powder eyeshadow or a palette I would highly recommend this Makeup By Mario Master Mattes one.

It’s a palette I find myself reaching for the most in my pro kit as well as when I am travelling or generally want a palette with lots of versatile matte options. It has a lovely creamy powdery texture that is easily buildable.

EYELINER

MAKEUPBYMARIO | Master Pigment Pro Eyeliner

Another Makeup By Mario find! It can be difficult to find an eye pencil creamy enough that it doesn’t drag, blends easily, stays put and doesn’t bleed/transfer and is the right shade.

Mario wasn’t lying when he named it ‘the perfect brown’. It’s no wonder they are always out of stock, if you can get your hands on one you wont regret it.

VIEVE | Power Ink Liner

Now I love a winged liner, though it’s not something I reach for on a daily basis (as it isn’t my favourite on my eye shape) but for the right look, absolutely!

Jamie really nailed this. It makes winged liner a breeze! The fine, precise tip glides without tugging at your eyes so you can create a classic wing, a natural flick, or a bold graphic look. Whilst the long-lasting, smudge-proof formula ensures it stays put.

VICTORIA BECKHAM | Satin Kajal Liner

As mentioned above, there are a few things I look for in an eye pencil. With that in mind, I truly believe these are some of the best eye kohls on the market.

The colour range is brilliant and the formula ticks all of the boxes for me.

MASCARA

YSL | Lash Clash Mascara

If you like a bold, chunky lash this mascara may be the one for you.

The brown shade is one of my go to’s for every day wear as it is a little softer whilst still adding volume and the black one is great for a more dramatic evening look.

LANCOME | Lash Idole Mascara

This has been a favourite of mine for years and it’s still remained in my top 3 in 2023. I love the unique curved wand that really hugs the lashes from the root to give you both volume and lift, whilst catching every lash hair and separating them.

I find it also helps you to mould the lashes in the direction you want and I love the ultra black glossy, gel like formula.

L’OREAL | Telescopic Mascara

I rediscovered my love for this mascara in 2023. It was my go to in high school and I can remember why.

I love the skinny wand on it that really helps to separate and lift my lashes for the most volume. It is also really great at not transferring onto my eyelids.

LIPS

ESTEE LAUDER | Double Wear Lip Liner (Spice)

Lip products are the category in my makeup collection that I own the most of and I like to switch them up often. So I thought I’d just mention 3 of my most worn products.

I usually have a few nude lipliners on rotation, you can read about them in my Best Nude Lip Liners blog post if you’d like!

But I specifically wanted to mention this one by Estee Lauder, as I think it should be spoken about more! Not only is it the perfect beige nude with a hint of blush but the formula is budge proof once it sets. I find it really creamy to apply and helps the longevity of my lip products applied on top too.

VIEVE | Lip Dew

Now I was a die hard matte lipstick girl (given they are creamy and non drying) but in 2023 I found myself loving a lip oil. I want to mention the Vieve Lip Dew’s, in particularly the shade Cherry. Which since its release in the last few months of 2023, I have worn pretty much every day.

I love how pigmented it is so it feels like you’re getting a flush of colour that requires minimal effort. The formula feels nourishing, non sticky and smells incredible too! I hope they continue to bring out more shades of this.

YSL | Rouge Pur Couture

2023 brought us many great lipstick launches. Like I said, I have lipsticks of all finishes and shades in my collection, so it is really hard for me to pick just one!

Though YSL Beauty recently renovated their Rouge Pur Couture lipstick with a brand new formula, new packaging and newly curated shade range.

With a satin finish that feels seriously luxurious, it contains 80% lip care and is available in 40 high pigment shades from nudes to bold colours so there is something for everyone!
