We talk a lot about makeup products over here but very little about the tools themselves that create the looks. The brushes you use to apply your products with is crucial to achieving the most seamless results and can often do the hard work for you. Certain product formulas work better with particular brushes. I always recommend reading how the product is intended to be used and consider whether it is a liquid, cream or powder formula and go from there!

Brushes are available in an array of shapes, sizes and densities. I recommend investing in your brushes like you would your makeup. You don’t need every single brush out there, just a handful that will work for your routine (the more multi-purpose the better!). There are so many options available on the market and you don’t have to spend a fortune. You can often find quality brushes at affordable price points and if you take good care of them (blog post on this coming soon!) they can last you for years.

Makeup brushes are personal, for example I often use so called concealer brushes to apply my powder with or foundation brushes to apply cream bronzer/contour. Whilst labels can be helpful to know what the intended use is, I don’t like when they feel restrictive. So I wanted to share with you my favourite complexion brushes with you and how I personally like to use them. If you find another way works for you, then even better!
